Norwegian Delegation Vancouver Visit March 9th 2012

The Norwegian Parliamentary delegation flew to Vancouver from Campbell River at 9-10 a.m. to meet (after a tour of the city) with Mr. Peter Robinson Chief Executive Officer of the David Suzuki Foundation at the Black & Blue Steakhouse Restaurant on Alberni Street. Charlene Barringham arrived before 11 but saw no sign of the delegation, perhaps due to an underground entrance or a change of venue?  Four of us half-expected their departure for City Hall at 1:15 (per itinerary) to meet with Deputy Mayor Andrea Reimer (whom later I spoke with on live stream, minus photo due to a very bright light on the recording device/phone). Andrea is well known for her solid progressive views, especially having to do with local food sources.

Jay Peachy & the occupywildsalmon group were welcomed by City Hall staff to set up their large tent & banners on City Hall property at the corner of 12th & Cambie.  CBC, CTV, & other media arrived almost immediately, keen to follow this story now it was finally on the mainstream media’s radar this last day of the delegation’s six day visit to Canada.  The public was welcome in the Council Chambers, & there was both a photo opportunity and a public reception with eats.  Jay Peachy set up both a camera & live streaming within the reception area, & had good interviews with both Ms. Marianne Balto, Member of the Saami Parliament, and Adriane Carr.

Adriane Carr: recently elected 1st ever Green Vancouver City Councillor. As the topic of racism was combined with the Norwegian delegation's visit, fish farms comes up @ 1.24 min into this video Adriane Carr : "good for Alexandra & Rod"
